Chapter 23
Albert J. Dunlap
Dunlap was a ‘professional downsizer’ and he was best known as a runaround specialist, attracting nicknames such as “Chainsaw Al” and “Rambo in Pinstripes” and is now considered one of the first corporate psychopaths
He was ruthless and his route from A to B was always a straight line, irrespective of what might be in the way.
He started his employment at Scott Paper, the largest manufacturer and marketer of sanitary tissue products at the time which were branded as ‘Scott Tissue’, ‘Baby Fresh’, ‘Scottex’ and ‘Viva’.
There always appeared to be some controversy in his wake.
He allegedly engineered a massive accounting fraud whilst he was the President of Nitec between 1974 and 1976, demonstrating poor behavioural control, cunning and/or manipulation and irresponsibility.
