Hi guys. No, this isn’t my latest COVID-19 situation. But what I will do is take the helmet off because putting on this T-shirt this morning reminded me of something that may be of benefit to you guys.
About two years ago, my wife and I, Sandy, we went on a biker down course. It’s a free course that’s given to help when you find a biker has come off and he’s laying prone in the road. The things to do, the things not to do. One of the first questions that the instructor asked was, where do you put your bike? Of course, I’m one of the guys that puts his hands up first. I know, I’m the annoying one. I said, “Well, I would probably turn my bike around, have it facing the traffic with the headlights on.” Clearly that was the wrong answer because should a driver not see it, and there’s every chance that they won’t, they’ll then hit the bike. That bike then becomes a missile and we don’t have one victim in the road, we have two. He said, the very first thing you must do is make sure that you’re not the second victim.
Now in this situation, the victim is our businesses. They’re lying prone in the road and it’s down to us to make sure that it survives. Now, we can’t do that if we’re a victim too. So make sure, first of all, that you take care of yourself. The government is saying that we can go for walks for exercise, and they’re pointing out it is possibly physical and a bit of mental health exercise. But for business owners, it’s a fantastic opportunity to get Audible, put some headphones on and listen to some good advice, maybe some bad advice, but listen, clear your head, get back into the office and start addressing the issue in the road.
First of all, making sure that it is as safe and as comfortable as possible. Make sure your business is as safe and as comfortable as possible.
