Excerpt from Chapter 8
The 60s/70s Workplace
“If your workplace was somehow transplanted into the jungle
and everyone was forced to survive at a very primitive level,
it’s safe to say that eventually, your boss would rape you.”
― Scott Dikkers
For those of you who are old enough to remember there was a tangible and definitive hierarchy of the workplace of the 1960s and 70s.
I remember walking into the office (as a rookie of course) and being somewhat hesitant to initiate a conversation with ‘the boss’.
The boss was clearly the ‘alpha chimp’ and demonstrated this whenever he could.
In the jungle, all other apes were submissive to the alpha male.
