Excerpt from Chapter 10
Running on emotion
“I don’t want to be at the mercy of my emotions.
I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them.”
― Oscar Wilde,
Emotion is the strongest driver that exists in animals. It keeps us alive, it gives us hunger to eat and provides our sex drive and our anger.
When the hairs on the back your neck stand on end, it’s instantaneous, immediate.
How on earth can your body react so quickly to something, and sometimes to something quite intangible?
According to MRI scans the limbic part of the brain receives the most blood and receives it first, therefore, as our chimp resides in this part of the brain we can unconsciously allow our chimp to run our lives.
